lgbtqia+greens poised to retain control of gpex for the 4th time in a row

Nominations for 6 key positions on the Executive are now closed. The total number of candidates is 15. Nominees for 4 of the posts are job-sharers. Re-Open Nominations remains an option members can vote for.

Members of the LGBTQIA+ Greens and the Young Greens, with support from the Jewish Greens, Greens of Colour and a minority of Green Party Women have been at the forefront of promoting  Identity Politics and Stonewall’s transgender agenda within the Green Party for the past seven years.

9 candidates seeking to get elected on the Executive Committee are active members of the LGBTQIA+ Greens Special Interest Group and/or from the Young Greens.

Those are:

Ria Patel & Kelsey Trevett for the Equality and Diversity co-ordinator’s role – job share

Laura Eccott  & Alistair Binnie-Lubbock for the Internal Communications  – job share

Seb Cousins &  Cado Hatton for the Publications co-ordinator’s role – job share

Rosie Rawle is the sole candidate for the Local Party co-ordinator’s post

Dylan Lewis-Creser  & Tom Atkins for the Policy Development co-ordinator’s role – job share

The views of two further nominees with regards to Identity Politics on Race, Gender and Intersectionality and Trans Rights are somewhat confusing and contradictory and will need further clarification at the hustings:

Kefentse Dennis, former GPEX Trade Union liaison officer is standing for the post of Equality and Diversity co-ordinator.

Anne Gayfer, GPRC representative for East Midlands is standing for the post of Policy Development co-ordinator.

There is no record of Julian Cusack, (Finance), Helen Geake  ( Internal communications) , Edward Millford ( Publications) and Melissa Poulton (Equality and Diversity) being associated with the LGBTQIA + greens or Young Greens.  Melissa is the secretary of the Party’s Gypsy, Roma and Traveller Policy Working Group.

In addition to the above,  8 candidates have been nominated for the Policy Development Committee, 5 of them are supporters of Identity Politics, including former GPRC’s co-chair Adrian Spurrell .

Robbie Spence has recently been reinstated after being suspended from the Party for 2 years for alleged transphobia. His case was dismissed on Appeal. The views of Michael Herron are unknown.
