“Now is the time to create the space where the debate as to what kind of a party we are and want to be, what’s happened to ecology and our philosophical basis and what price we are paying for abandoning the science“. The Green Light team.
Greens never have and never will claim to have The Truth. Our party is a science-based political project, not a cult or religion. That is the reason why we were the very first grassroots movement and political party which identified the causes of global warming and unsustainable growth as the twin existential threats to humanity and all living species.
Those who believe that prioritising what ought to be true over what is true within the Green party have ceased to search for evidence based knowledge and have been dragging members into a fantasy world where nothing can be measured and nothing is real.
As demonstrated by the behaviour of the Leadership Team, members serving on the Executive, the Regional Council and Disciplinary Committee and their stubborn challenge to observable facts ( no offical response to the Cass’s Review Report ) as well as the relentless purge all non-believers, it is hard to see how the GPEW can still be considered a knowledge based and science driven ecology party.
In practical terms, the point about the Post Modern concept of Equity, for instance, – which is part of the Social Justice Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EEDI ) tool box – is that “justice” can never be mathematical. Equity singularly promotes competition between different identity groups with arbitrary hierarchies of oppression and where ” Inclusion” is de facto exclusionary. EEDI is the opposite of universal Human Rights and class based wealth redistribution.
An example of the consequences of the application of EEDI concepts is what we have seen over the past 5 years with the rise of the Transgenders’ narrative and trans activists demand for self-identification being prioritised over and above the experience and desperate needs of our Disabled members and the protection of Women and sex-based rights.
Whilst a number of potential court cases- because of race and gender discriminaiton – have been quietly averted in the past with out of court settlements, the GPEW actually lost its first discrimination court case in February 2024. This was because of discrimination against the Claimant who takes the view, or believes, that sex is biological as per the Equality Act of 2010 and this, with potentially catastrophic financial penalties to the party. Further court cases applications by a number of suspended or expelled green party feminists may follow.
And yet, with a recent push for the full implementation of GPEX’s Diverse Matters EDI audit report and the appointment of our Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Officer, with all that this entails in terms of training costs and resources allocation, the Social Justice agenda has come back with a vengence with backing from the Leadership Team – now beefed up with our newly elected 4 MPs – and identinarian zealots serving on the Executive, the Regional Council, the Disciplinary Committee and the Standing Orders Committee.
The outcome of the implementation of the Social Justice agenda would appear to be what has been delivered in our GPEW’s 2024 Election Manifesto where “Fairness” in every aspects of society has been given absolute priority over tackling the existential Climate Crisis and the need to fight for a fundamental “system change”.
