The common assumption amongst our Critical Social Justice green activists is that ordinary members who do not subscribe to their ideology simply do not understand it. This is because they are convinced that we are all so deeply socialised into internalising their notion of oppressive power systems that we need to “educate “ourselves. This implies that ‘training’ is needed until we subscribe to their way of thinking.
This is the posturing of all religious believers telling people to study the holy texts until they understand those properly or devote more of their time to praying.
With Critical Social Justice advocates, the word “learning” is used to mean specifically subscribing to their beliefs. This often goes with “unlearning” the beliefs one is assumed to hold because we are all inevitably, as they would tell us, born into a certain identity group. There is no escape, no exception, only redemption.
A good example of “unlearning” would be not to use ‘women’s health’ and replace it with ‘reproductive health’ or ‘gynaecological health’. Or instead of using words such as ‘women and girls’, you should say ‘people who menstruate’ or ‘people who have periods’…
What green party identinarians share with all Critical Social Justice advocates is an absolute certainty in their own righteousness in telling the rest of us to “educate yourself “or “do the work”. The implication is that if you do not agree with their ideology, you simply have not worked hard enough, remain stubbornly defensive and have failed to “check your privileges”
Key to pressure us to “educate yourself “, undertake your “ learning “ or “ do the work “ is to make us feel very uncomfortable. As local party members who may have challenged their resident Critical Social Justice mole will know, this can be a deeply unsettling experience. This is because having difficulties to conform – that is just ask for or dare engage in a debate – will be seen as your own problem and warranting you to “work harder”.
It has been brought to the attention of the Green Light that a few local parties have recently fallen apart due to this kind of deeply un-green intolerance and ideological pressure with shaming, intimidation or plain bullying.
For those active members who have had the strength and courage to actively resist conforming to the Critical Social Justice ideology and its advocates in our midst, the punishment, as evidenced in a Late Motion for the Autumn Conference of 2024 published on this blog has been incredibly brutal.
